In addition to its use of treating and preventing medical conditions, it has also become known for its use as a hangover cure and energy booster in cities and among celebrities. Over the following decades since, the Myers’ Cocktail has grown immensely in popularity. He named the treatment the “Myers Cocktail” to honour his late colleague’s work.

But, then, came along Dr Alan Gaby, a medical sleuth who, vitamin by vitamin, began to uncover a formula to match the late Dr Myers’ miracle blend. When Myers died in 1984, nobody knew the exact recipe for his IV “cocktail”. Myers went on to treat many of his patients with great success. The treatment would be given intravenously and would boost his patients’ health directly through their bloodstream. Creativity struck him, and he went on to experiment with mixing key vitamins and minerals into a “cocktail” of sorts. In his work, Dr Myers quickly came to realise that minimal amounts of nutrients were being absorbed into the bloodstream. However, it wasn’t until the 1960s, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the heart of Baltimore, that Dr John Myers created the IV Therapy which is used today. The idea behind IV Therapy can be traced back to the middle ages when experiments were being carried out which involved blood transfusions between humans and animals.
